MARK BRASHARES WAS ORIGINALLY FROM CLEVELAND, OHIO.  HE MOVED TO MIAMI AS A YOUNG MAN AND HAD A CAREER WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI RECREATION DEPARTMENT EVENTUALLY RETIRING IN 1970. HE WAS ALSO A TOP SECD PLAYER FROM THE 50S TO THE 7OS EVEN THOUGH STILL WORKING AND WAS ELECTED TO THE FLORIDA HALL OF FAME IN 1967 AND THE NATIONAL HOF 2 YEARS LATER.
MORE IMPORTANTLY, HIS OFF THE COURT CONTRIBUTIONS ARE STAGGERING; HE WAS ONE OF 2 PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE  FOR STARTING THE STATE HALL OF FAME IN 1960. HE GAVE EXHIBITIONS IN THE 1950S IN HAVANNA, CUBA AND IN 11 EUROPEAN COUNTRIES WITH 30 OTHER PLAYERS. HE INTRODUCED SHUFFLEBOARD TO SOUTH AMERICA AND IN 1965 HE WENT AROUND THE WORLD PLAYING AGAINST CHAMPIONS OF 5 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES.  MARK BRASHARES WAS TRULY AN AMBASSADOR TO THE SPORT AND IT IS A HONOR TO CELEBRATE HIM TODAY.  (Mark is deceased > date unknown)
