News Flash: I have just received an e-mail from Battle Creek Club President Jerry Deren in which he advises that Henry Strong and Earl Ball are both in Battle Creek AND WILL be playing on Thursday in the Pro Doubles.
From the Battle Creek Enquirer: Time to push for a championship: Michigan shuffleboard state tourney gets started in Battle Creek.
With State championships and state-wide bragging rights on the line, the Michigan Shuffleboard Association State Tournament began on Monday at Bailey Park in Battle Creek.
The four-day tournament is expected to draw more than 100 players. It’s the third consecutive year that the state tournament will be played at Bailey Park and is hosted by the Battle Creek Shuffleboard Club.
The Amateur men’s and women’s singles competition was scheduled for Monday, with action delayed part of the day by rain.
The professional men’s and women’s singles is set for today.
Amateur doubles competition will be Wednesday with the professional men’s and women’s doubles event on Thursday.
Complete results of the entire tournament will be in Friday’s Enquirer, following the conclusion of the event.
