NYC’s best new activities!!
Best new nightlife activity: Shuffleboard:
Two words you didn’t expect to work? Shuffleboard nightclub. But it does. Big time. Since opening earlier this year, the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club has been drawing crowds on a nightly basis to try their hand at pushing pucks. The masterful cocktails, food trucks, bingo nights and laid-back vibe don’t hurt, either. $40/hour per lane; 514 Union St., Gowanus, 347- 223-4410.
Best park trend: Piers as playgrounds
Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 2 opened this year, bringing with it courts for basketball, handball, bocce and shuffleboard (there it is again), as well as a roller rink. It’s just the latest pier-as-playground park to enhance the city’s waterfront in recent years, following in the wake of Pier 51 and Pier 25 on the Hudson, and Brooklyn Bridge Park’s other multiple piers.
