Chuck Moulton was born in Cortland, New York, 4/4/1940. He graduated from Cortland H.S. and entered the Army in 1959. He served the U.S. Army in Alaska as a driver in the motor pool. Chuck married Nancy in 1982 following a previous marriage.
Chuck worked as service representative in Cortland, N.Y. for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for 34 years before retiring to Florida in 1999.
From the 70’s through the 90’s he was a very avid bow hunter and competitive archer and served as president of the Cortland N.Y. Field Archers Club from 1987 to 1994. Chuck is a charter member of the Homer N.Y. Elks Lodge was elected Exalted Ruler in 1976.
Chuck was introduced to shuffleboard by Henry Strong, the late John Strong and Don Raymont at Forest Lake Estates. The group rode their bikes to the courts and practiced most every day and Chuck was hooked after his very first shot. Eventually all joined the 10 Park League and Chuck’s first win was the League’s singles tournament the next year.
In 2001, he served as the first president of the newly formed FLE shuffleboard Club for 2 years before joining the Tourist Club in 2003. Chuck began playing in the Area, District and State tournaments and became Pro in 2005. He has qualified twice for the Central District Pro Masters.
After Bob Perkins bought the Tourist Club courts and the Zephyrhills Shuffleboard Club was formed in 2007, Chuck was elected to the new Board of Directors as Club treasurer, a position he still holds and enjoys today.
Chuck serves ZSC in many capacities. He is a member of the summer crew that works to keep our facility in good shape in the summer months. He loves being at the Club with the guys, keeping it looking good, stocking the refrigerator and freezer and never misses a work day. Chuck was for many years, the ZSC contact and manager for the CD Mingles/Singles summer series.
In 2010, without any previous experience, Chuck started a web site for all Zephyrhills Shufflers, to fill a void after “The Shuffler” went off line. His “Zephyrhills Shuffleboard Club” website has been hugely popular and is followed daily by over 100 shufflers.
For the last 6 years, Chuck has served as the Tournament director for the 8 Park League and has organized and directed many local Amateur and Area tournaments.
Until last year and since 2008, Chuck chaired the ZSC Sponsorship Committee and for the last three years has designed a popular shuffleboard season Club calendar as a fund raiser.
