In The women’s division the battle is between Landy Adkins with 35 points and Sharon Upson with 34 points. I expect Sharon to place in the Consolation bracket; maybe even win it which would give her 36 points. Landy will play Joan Cook in the quarters in the morning. How would you like to play a make or break match against a 1000 point Hall of Famer? One will be in and the other will be the alternate.
In the men’s division it seems Phil Harrison has changed his mind and will play in the Masters. That leaves two open spots. Mike Seyfer with 24 points is the leader but he lost today and Ray Buck with 23 points is in consolation. He was playing the quarters when I left and had won the 1st game; he was tied at 45 in the 2nd game. I would guess he will win the match and will earn at least one point to tie Mike and may well win the consolation bracket and move ahead of Mike. The real store is Jay Goldman, who has 20 points and came all the way from Lake Worth, playing in the non-walking division and is looking very focused. It won’t surprise me if he wins or at least forces a playoff with Mike or Ray or both to see who plays the Masters.
