Kenny Offenther Speaks About Henry Strong in Oct. of 2012: The Occasion; MVP Presentation to HENRY:
“YOU CANNOT TAKE HIM TO THE BALLET OR THE OPERA, FANCY RESTAURANTS ARE NOT HIS CUP IOF TEA – SOPHISICATED HE MAY NOT BE! BUT– TAKE HIM TO SHUFFLEBOARD COURTS AND YOU WILL SEE A HARD WORKER, A GREAT PLAYER AND A GENEROUS MAN.

Update by Stan McCormack: Henry is now (2016 05 12) the CNSA President; the President of the Zephyrhills Shuffleboard Club AND HENRY, in the FSA Shuffleboard season of 2015-2016, attained more points than any other player in this division: 77 points, two more than the 2nd place player, EARL BALL. Both Henry and Earl made the Gold Medal component of the 2014-2015 FSA Roll of Champions!!
Moving on to Earl: I would like you to begin by reading an article titled: Love Him or Hate Him, He Brings Attention to the Sport of Shuffleboard https://theshuffler.net/2013/03/21/interesting-and-instructive-about-earl-ball-a14-of-15/ The article speaks of Grant Boshart, now deceased. Earl worked with Grant to ensure he gained entry into the FSA Hall of Fame, and in fact performed his induction. The same article references a STICKER promoted by Bill Pollock, (see the pic, top left in the
article, link above). That STICKER literally travelled the world, creating fun and adding memories and ENJOYMENT for many shufflers and shuffleboard itself!! Earning the “I Beat Earl” sticker, in Holland in 2008, on the left, Walt Wedel and Lois McCormack. In Germany, also in 2008, we have Sebastian Runge and Dieter Hussmann, both still smiling after their VICTORY!! Earl took it all in Good Fun!!
Also pictured in the article are Myrna Bilton and Earl, Myrna at that time was a relative newcomer to the sport!! (We will spend some time “with Myrna” as this coverage continues > she too will be competing in Woodstock!!) Finally, see the pic at the bottom of Henry, Geraldine, Vivian and Earl, a pic which must be in relative terms, in the formative stages of a lasting friendship.
Most readers will know that Earl was a significant support to the original SHUFFLER Website, contributing on site reports, historical items, as well as instructional items. Humility is not a word often associated with Earl; however; I give you a perfect example of JUST THAT: EARL REVEALS HIS Humility I now give you another “humility story”, this time by none other than Glen Peltier. Glen has more accumulated points than any living competitor in the Florida Circuit!! Glenn too is expected to compete in Woodstock, partnering with Jim Corbeil!! We will talk about that team as well!!! Here is the article by Glen: HUMILITY Bradenton 100 1ST PLACE WINS. GLEN COMMENTS To end this portion of my coverage of Earl, I give you remarks in support of his MVP Presentation by Henry Strong:
“This award is presented to individuals whose ability and dedication goes above and beyond ones expectations. In countries around the world where shuffleboard is played he has the most recognizable name of all players.
This person is the best strategic player of any around. He is rated in the top 3 in the world. He is currently in 7th place in all time points standings, holds the record for most National wins at 16, has played in 13 Masters Tournaments and has been the co-winner twice. In I.S.A. events he is known as a leader and sought out for his keen ability to organize tournaments.
It gives me great pleasure to present this award to one of the 100 Most Valuable People, my good friend Earl Ball.
Presenter of the MVP pin, Henry Strong. 2012 10 22.
Put together by Stan McCormack in support of the CNSA (Woodstock) National Tournament. 2016 05 13.
