GLENNA EARLE SPEAKS: Hello fellow shufflers,
It was a great day to be a Saltwater shuffler. So much good food, good folks with lots of sunshine, heat and humidity!!
About 33 of our group gathered today to wind up our shuffling season with some relaxation, visiting and breaking bread together. The food just gets better every year!
Started off with some of the most delectable appetizers, from cheese balls to fruit to home-made spring rolls, to shrimp, Lunenburg pudding, etc. which disappeared rather quickly.
Next the famous mussel man, Jim Irwin, provided his annual delicious South Shore mussels. David cooked them on his trusty gas burner where everyone could sniff them as they steamed in a little beer. They were not long being devoured also.
The main course came out next with beautiful creative dishes which we thoroughly enjoyed. There was not much left after that course was presented either. We have some of the most fantastic cooks ever! and we are all good eaters.
At this point we were sufficiently sufficed to sit back and allow David to conduct the annual general meeting. Everyone was very agreeable and it was not long before that part of the day was finished and time to serve dessert.
What a feast we shared next! Don’t know where you folks find all these marvellous recipes but there was hardly a smell left in a very short time. In other words, we had our annual feeding frenzy with a little business meeting thrown in. Many people took a walk down by the ocean where the air was a wee bit cooler and lots of wildlife to watch.
David and I want to thank everyone for coming to our home today and bringing such a fine luncheon. It is a pleasure to be a part of this group and we want to publicly thank all of you for your cooperation and consideration of each other and ourselves. We must be the luckiest group of shufflers anywhere.
Thanks to all of you also for the gifts to both ourselves and the others on the board. It is greatly appreciated and we know Rose took the time to arrange this and have everyone sign our card which we will cherish.
Thanks again to all the Saltwater shufflers and have a safe and healthy winter.
We shall see you in the spring.
Love and best wishes to all, Glenna & David (EARLE)
