Muriel Burnett Speaks: Hi Stan: Just wanted to relate another story of shuffleboard friends visiting and helping each other.
On our most recent voyage to Florida, we stopped to visit Moe and Teresa Vermeulen in Essex, Ontario. This area is one of the many Ontario treasures we had not discovered. They took us to see the Underground Railway, http://blackhistorycanada.ca/events.php?themeid=21&id=6 and the Atlas Tube Centre, http://lakeshore.ca/lakeshore-2/atlas-tube-centre-multi-use-recreation-facility where they shuffle. The facility is amazing with three ice arenas, a pool, a hall where they set up shuffleboard, and a cozy fireplace with comfortable chairs to visit.
We continued our drive, and called in at the farm of Linda and Henry Armstrong. It was a pleasure to meet this fine couple who will be playing in the ISA Tournament next week.
There is just so much, to see and learn about this area, we will have to spend more time here. The International Plowing Match will be held in the area in 2018.
We want to thank Moe and Teresa for their kind hospitality. We first met Moe and Teresa playing in Amateur State Tournaments in Avon Park. Teresa was my partner last year in Fort Pierce, when I made Instant Pro.
