Important visitors from Germany at the SWC District tournament
The President of the SWCD, presented an emblem with the club’s new logo to Dieter Hussmann, the President of the German Shuffleboard Association.
Together with his wife Birgitt, Dieter participated in the tournament to prepare for next week’s International tournament to be held in St. Cloud near Orlando.
In 2006 Dieter and Birgitt Hussmann initiated the founding of the German Shuffleboard Association and have been busy since then to promote Shuffleboard, not only in Germany but also across Europe.
Germany, Norway and the UK are the three European countries with existing national Shuffleboard associations. Dieter and Birgitt are working hard to get more countries involved in Shuffleboard. They have established a network with contacts in the Netherlands, Austria and Slovenia. Should their work prove successful, there is a good chance for international tournaments in Europe with participation from Bradenton members.
This year, Peter and Erika Berg and Siggy Gudzus have been nominated to play for Germany in the one week long international event. All three Bradenton Shufflers are very proud to represent their birth country.
