Day 4_107 JOhn Brown RevFLORIDA HOSTS INTERNATIONAL SHUFFLEBOARD ASSOCIATION TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

St. Cloud Shuffleboard Club, only a two hour drive from Bradenton, is hosting the 35th World Team Championship Tournament this week, Oct. 23-28.  The logo for the event reads “Celebrating Small Town Life”.  Indeed St. Cloud is likely the smallest town to host these events in recent history.

Those who choose to attend will observe much pageantry.  105 players from 14 countries will compete.  This writer has played in nine such events with much pleasure, but is not on a team this year.

NOTABLY

.     Readers planning to compete in the National Singles at Bradenton Shuffle Club Oct. 31, please note that a food truck will be present to offer lunch.  This announcement is in contradiction to the PREVIEW and published schedules which were printed “no lunch”.  Such a truck at some Bradenton tournaments last season proved very popular.

.     Also, despite the fact that the PREVIEW says lunch will be served at Tropical Haven in Melbourne on the East Coast this year, they will have no lunch at any tournament.

.     Don Rood, Central District President announced at the FSA Meeting Oct. 15 that a crew of competent court workers have put permanent beads on several courts and he praised their work, saying they could perform this function beyond the Central District if requested.
