LINDA REBHOLZ SPEAKS: I am sure that most of the players are back home resting and the many volunteers are breathing a big sigh of relief that it over! There cannot be enough said about the hospitality and hard work performed by the St. Cloud Shuffleboard Club and all the people involved.
On Friday, USA-East went against Brazil with Brazil holding a one point lead. The rounds were “touch and go” for a while but USA finally pulled off the win. Brazil only had a four man team so they played hard and well all week.
At the Rewards Banquet, uniformed players filled the room. Michael Zellner handed out the gold, silver and bronze metals. The Embassy hotel served a buffet with fish and chicken and an assortment of desserts.
Michael Zellner gave his farewell speech, ending six years as President. Myna Bilton will take over the reins and she said “I have big shoes to fill”. Michael has been a big promoter of shuffleboard and will continue to do so.
Tearful goodbyes were said but players are already looking ahead to playing in Brazil in July, 2017.
