Jerry & Marilyn Everett held their first ‘REFEREE’ school this past Saturday, January 21stat the Bradenton Shuffle Club. Each year the ‘Everett’s’ offer an in-depth ‘school’ for all SWCD members. It is an intense 3-4 hour session reviewing and explaining ‘Rules of The Game’ and teaching members how to ‘Referee’ a shuffleboard match.
Participants receive a written syllabus on ‘how to referee’ and members go ‘to the courts’ where many disc’s are placed for evaluation. Each member ’secretly’ decides the ‘status’ of each disc and then is scored accordingly.
Whether these participants go on to referee or not (The Everett‘s provide 12-18 referee‘s for the SWCD Masters each year), it provides a good educational experience for all who attend. District Am, State Am and seasoned Pro’s truly benefit from this experience. The next school is scheduled for FEBRUARY 11TH (9:00 AM) at the Bradenton Shuffle Club.
“Certificates” of completion are awarded at SWCD Tournaments each year. A complete list of those becoming ‘Certified’ will be forthcoming after the February 11th school is complete.
