Comford-Hoekstra win Nat’l Championship

p14-jim-miller-wife-jo-copy“Jo” Miller speaks: The winter National Doubles were held at Trailer Estates this week.  28 ladies teams and 46 men’s teams showed upon Monday morning, ready to battle each other…and the gusty wind!

If you survived Monday, you were greeted with sunshine and only a light breeze on Tuesday; although it was a cold breeze.  If you were lucky to play in the sunshine, you soon removed the sweaters and sweatshirts.  In the shade you put on an extra Jacket or sweatshirt.

But the reward of hard play paid off for two SWC players.

Bob Comford from Palmetto and Hank Hoekstra from Bradenton were the winners in the men’s division.  Their biggest win was against fellow SWC players in the quarters, but their determination paid off in the end.

By winning the tournament, both players received their National Pins.  As you can see, they were very happy with the results of their hard work.  Congratulations Bob and Hank!
