The 17th Annual Bud Walrath National Split Singles Shuffleboard

The 17th Annual Bud Walrath National Split Singles Shuffleboard Tournament was recently held at Mesa Spirit Resort in Mesa, Arizona  during the week of Feb13th -16th.  Tournament Director John Williams conducted the opening ceremonies which included the United States and Canadian Flag procession, Invocation and International Pledge.  Then he introduced the guests present which included USA National Shuffleboard Association Officers Rob Robinson, President; Rich Phifer, 1st Vice President; and Sheila Monday, Secretary.  John Williams then presented plaques to the major tournament sponsors.

 At the conclusion of the tournament, Director Williams presented John Rosenkranz, representing the Mesa Lion’s Club, with a check for $1500 for their use in providing eye care to underprivileged children.  Rob Robinson and Sylvia Smith, the USA NSA Western Regional Director, later presented the USA NSA pin to the first time national tournament winners Chuck Crouse and Melanie Kersey.  Chuck finally was awarded the national pin that has eluded him for numerous years.

The tournament was enjoyed by all participants and the tournament brochure was a memorable keepsake.  A “Big Thanks” to John Williams and the Mesa Spirit Shuffleboard Club for putting on such a great tournament.
