36TH I.S.A. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS MEN’S TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Round Robin 1
Players will be divided into 2 groups (A and B) of 10 players and 2 groups (C and D) of 9 players. Each man in Groups A and B will play 9 games in 9 rounds of play. Each man in Groups C and D will play 8 games in 9 rounds with one bye each. Ties in Round Robin games will remain as ties. Please record actual scores on the scorecard at the end of each round. All players must sign their scorecard to verify their acceptance of the posted score. Where possible, ties at the completion of the Round Robin phase will be broken by the tournament director using head-to-head results. If that is not possible, significant ties will then be broken by a round of Speed Shuffleboard (Round 10).
Round Robin 2
Players will be divided into 8 groups of 4 players each and 2 groups of 3 players each. Player distribution will be:
1. The top 4 players from each of the original 4 groups will move into Groups E through H. 2. The next 4 players will move into Groups I through L. 3. The last 2 players from Groups A and B and the last player from Groups C and D will move into Groups M and N.
This event will require 3 rounds. Where possible, ties at the end of the Round Robin phase will be broken by the tournament director using head-to-head results. If that is not possible, Speed Shuffleboard will be used to break any significant ties (Round 14).
Players from Groups E through L will move into the Knock-Out Rounds (Rounds 15 and 16). The winners of Groups E through H will play the knockout round for positions 1 through 4. The #2 players from Groups I through L will play for positions 5 to 8, the number 3 players for 9 through 12 and the 4th place players will play for positions 13 to 16. Those players from Groups I through L will be similarly divided to play for positions 17 to 20, 21 to 24, 25 to 28 and 29 to 32.
The players from Groups M and N will play finals only. The #1 players will play for positions 33 and 34. The #2 players will play for positions 35 and 36 and the #3 players will play for the final two spots.
The top four positions will play their finals in a separate round (17).
Any tie in a Knock-Out Round will be broken by playing 2 additional frames (one hammer for each player). If the tie is not broken, play will continue in the same manner until the tie is broken.
Remember, there are no penalties assessed in I.S.A. tournaments. Players and team captains are encouraged to resolve problems among themselves if possible.
