Fort Pierce hosts State T. P11A. Report by Linda Rebholz.

FORT PIERCE SHUFFLEBOARD TOURNAMENT:

Linda Rebholz’s Report to the local Newspaper: There was a buzz at the shuffleboard courts at the River Walk Center on Monday and Tuesday as the Fort Pierce Shuffleboard Club hosted a Florida State shuffleboard tournament. There were 64 men and women who braved the brisk weather to play their favorite sport. After opening ceremonies, coffee and donuts, play began at 9:00 a.m. Players came from Zephyrhills, New Smyrna Beach, Melbourne, Vero Beach, Hollywood, Boynton Beach, Fort Myers, Bradenton and Sebring. Those people stayed in our local motels and enjoyed eating at our restaurants!!

We had four ladies who came here to play for the first time. Julianna Hogye and Deb Norton came from Ft. Myers and went home with the first place win in the Ladies Main event.   (Sorry; no pic available)

Marti Noble on the right, and Judy Holloway, on the right, came from Sebring and won second place in Ladies Consolation.

First place in Ladies Consolation was won by Allie Enos, Ft. Myers and her partner, Jane Plumpton of Wickham Park, Melbourne.

In the Men’s Main event, Phil Rebholz, Ft. Pierce and his partner, Dave Minnich of Bradenton, took home top honors.

First place in Men’s Consolation went to Tom Winkelspecht and Tom Plumpton, both from Wickham Park, Melbourne.

The City of Ft. Pierce provides us with beautiful facilities and everyone who comes here to play seems to love it and want to return. We hope to lure new players from the spectators who stopped to watch as they took their walk along the river!
