Sadness in the SEC: (South East Coast District)

Today, Feb. 22, 2018, was the start of SEC Tournament #20 at Boynton Beach. It was the Elida Piccirillo Memorial Tournament sponsored by Vicente Piccirillo in memory of his late wife, Elida, who passed away last year.

Today also marked the start of the very last SEC Tournament to ever be held at Boynton Beach. Over the past 4 or 5 years, the Boynton Beach Club President, Frank Lamb, has been doing everything he could to keep the club alive and well.
We have held 3 or more SEC tournaments there each and every year for over 20 years. We have also held many, many FSA State Tournaments at Boynton Beach over the last couple of decades.

Unfortunately, the City of Boynton Beach is “tearing up” the shuffleboard courts and they are “tearing down” the Library, the Police Station, and the Arts and Theatre buildings.

New High-Rise buildings will be constructed starting this coming year.
Sometimes “PROGRESS” can be a pretty dirty word.

Jay Fitzpatrick – Tournament Director and past SEC President.

Sorry to hear about Boynton Beach; hope we don’t lose more. We need to hear more of what’s going on in your district. Thanks for writing.
