Julius Caesar was warned by Brutus, “Beware the Ides of March”.

Well, in 2018 we can remember the Ides of March, this will be the day we make sure we have food to pack for our lunch the following day. Friday, March 16 the Southwest Coast District will meet at Bradenton Shuffle Club for a special event. At 9:00 a.m. we will play Hoss Collar, a rarity to be enjoyed by many. About noon, we will all eat together from our sack lunch or lunch bucket, followed by the induction into the SWCD Hall of Fame of Nancy Sclafani, a shuffler known by many as she has been the Keeper of Records in the District for about six years.
A native of Suffolk County, New York on Long Island, Nancy came to the Southwest Coast District in 2010 after learning to play in the Central District a couple of years earlier. Earning 199 points by November 30, a family illness kept her from playing in December through February. Partnering with Jim Miller at SWCD D-20 at Trailer Estates, her team went on to first place in the Main Event of the Mixed Doubles creating her eligibility for induction into the Southwest Coast District Hall of Fame.
Nancy feels very honored that her picture will hang on the wall along with so many friends at the Hall of Fame, located at Bradenton Shuffle Club. She states that she deeply appreciates the many prayers and good wishes received during her husband Michael’s illness. We, in turn, wish the best for the family and appreciate her faithful service as Keeper of Records and service on the SWCD Board of Directors.
This columnist hopes all District shufflers will join us Friday, March 16 for the Hoss Collar, lunch and induction ceremony. We should be free in the early afternoon.
