We Give You an Enlightened Comment with regard to Men and Women Competing Against Each Other!!

On Face Book there are a number of comments with regard to the wisdom of Men and Women competing against each other!!  Here are some:

Bernar Borges Hopefully one day the ISA tournaments won’t have a separate women’s division!  Erik Hahmann Id like women to have the option to play against men in FSA events.  I am now going to share with you a number of articles by Terry Rainwater and others regarding this topic in 2008!!

We need to do a lot more for our sport to attract new players and liven up the game. The “good ole boys” who want to keep it the game the “way it’s always been” need relax their control and allow those of us with ambition and ideas, to keep trying new things to liven it up!! ...
The FSA needs to have more open draw tournaments… The FSA needs to get away from this Man/Woman stuff – We’re equal in this life and this sport.
The National needs more “Any Doubles”!!
We need to change the rules to allow Open Communication with our partners – yes, coaching!
AND YES, we need to play more Frame games to shorten the day/tournaments!
We need to encourage more excitement from spectators!!
C’mon! Jump in!! Don’t make me the only one with opinions! …….

Although shuffleboard came west much later, it seems we are more up to date. Except for the occasional “Mens and Ladies Singles” all our league play, team play and tournaments are open to all.

I agree with Terry that the FSA should have more draw tournaments
Try it with two one year to see how it turns out.
On a split tournament the north venue would be BRING YOUR OWN PARTNER
On the southern venue it would be a DRAW TOURNAMENT
This way the BIG BOYS would bring their own partner and beat up on themselves while the SMALL BOYS would go to the draw tournament and the LUCK OF THE DRAW and have a lot of fun……I guarantee you the draw tournament would get more players playing.
The next tournament the BRING YOUR OWN PARTNER would be in the South venue and the DRAW TOURNAMENT would be in the NORTH……just reverse them
I like to see this happen some day…….the game needs changes and this would be a good one to try

I also agree with Terry that women should compete against the men…..I see it in bowling, archery, hunting, fishing and other sports…..why not shuffleboard…..I have gotten beat by women lots of times and deserving so…..they played better than me

Just adding my thoughts to Terry’s

Wow, I had forgotten these. I still feel the same on the same subject, and it’s too bad I can no longer participate. It is exciting, however, to see the happenings from The Royal Palms Shuffle Clubs in New York and their new venue in Chicago! Lessons could be learned from this group on how it could be in the Florida groups…
