BELANGER/BRANHAM WHIP EM ALL
The Betmar Shuffleboard Club hosted a Mingles/Singles Shuffleboard Tournament on Thursday, May 3rd. The Amateur Champion is Joe Belanger, Betmar, who swept the field winning all 8 matches. He owes a big thank you to his last partner, Neil Pearcy, Betmar’s President for keeping his perfect record intact. In the last match the Belanger/Pearcy team trailed by 35 points with 10 frames to go, a big hill to climb but they kept whittling away and got the deficit down to 14 with Pearcy having the last hammer and Neil finished the comeback by scoring 15 to win by one.
In the Pro Tournament, two players sweep the field. Jerry Branham and Don Hier of the Zephyrhills Club won every match but Jerry won with the highest point total. Jerry played solid shuffleboard all day long and was never seriously challenged.
