One player’s perspective – Shuffling in Brandon Manitoba

Bob Lockwood Speaks:  I played The Westman Classic in Brandon Manitoba this past week.

They have 12 roll-out courts that have been in play for about 3 years. The club has been active for over 20 years. They have over 50 active members who gather twice a week for play from May through September.

There were many players from the host club participating. Others from Alberta, Saskatchewan and across Manitoba were there for the three day event.

It was obvious that this wasn’t the first time that a tournament has been sponsored by the Westman Club. They were organized – had a broad base of volunteers – good equipment, well maintained.

They are wonderful hosts – very welcoming to newcomers. It was a competition that has a friendly tone to it – win or loose – new friends were made each game.

If I’m in Brandon on a Tuesday or Thursday morning I’ll be joining this fun group of Manitobans playing the game we all enjoy.
