Glenna Earle Reports From the Saltwater Club of Nova Scotia!!

David Earle, 3rd; Anne Dennis, 1st; Doug Stockman, 2nd.

Today was a very exciting day at the Saltwater Shuffle Club. We had our S/M tournament for the month of August. As you probably know, the weather has been scorching hot these days in NS and today was no exception. I think the car temp said 35oC when we left the arena. But the players showed up ready to play and for most of the day the arena was a comfortable place to play shuffleboard. The enthusiasm continued throughout the day.

Games began at 10 AM and wound up about 2PM with 34 players.
The competition was fierce and at times the games were so close, anyone might have won. Both Amateurs and Pros were thrown together so one never knew if your partner would be a beginner or a seasoned Pro. But it mattered not!!!
Everyone was laughing and enjoying a good day to be among friends and playing their little hearts out. 3 of our players won all 5 games and the top player was the lovely, talented and capable ANNE DENNIS. She really showed those guys how it is done!!!

The top 3 were:
1. Anne Dennis
2. Doug Stockman
3. David Earle
(Picture at top.)
Then the remaining winners were;
4. Pat Stockman
5. Frank Dennis (Anne’s other half)
6. Reg Sollows
7. Jean Gosse
8. Jim Tracey
9. Alan Jamieson
10. Sheridan Leslie
11. Mavis Kennedy
12. John Buchanan
13. Dorothy Turnbull
14. Brian Murphy

Congratulations to all the players. Many won the same number of games and were separated by only a few points, so all did extremely well. Thanks to all who participated.
Thanks also to Doug Stockman (VP) for doing a most efficient job as Tournament Director.
We have had a very successful season although it is quickly coming to an end in a couple of weeks. We are so lucky to have a wonderful group of dedicated players who remain loyal to the club, as well as continuing to help with set-up and take-down every week. Amazing folks!
