Bob Jones reporting:
“Will players come to a state tournament on a Saturday? Yes. 24 shufflers from 6 different Ohio Clubs came to play in the Akron Draw Doubles. Those among us in the ranks of the employed were happy to play tournament shuffleboard without using vacation time.
On a day Northeast Ohio was celebrating 50 years since the last Cuyahoga River fire and the start of the environmental movement, Levi Miller and Red Rudolph played clean shuffleboard to win the tournament and added 8 points to their season’s point totals. In the semi-finals, Levi made several timely kitchen shots to turn the tide and win the second and third games of the match. New 2019 expert, Tim Baker continued his winning ways, teaming with Walt Vilk for 2nd place.
Congratulations to Mike Snyder for becoming an instant expert with his 4th place finish with Steve Lockard.
I am looking forward to this tournament growing in future years and more weekend tournaments.”
