St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club 2020 Can-Am Results & Video

The St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club held its annual Can-Am singles tournament the weekend of March 7th and 8th. Over 150 players participated on day one, with only the top eight Americans and top eight Canadians coming back for day two, and ultimately the top from each division facing off in the finals. It’s a unique, fun tournament with about 70 players combined coming down from the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Clubs in Brooklyn and Chicago. On the second day they fill up the historic grandstands and add a lot of energy, cheering and ooo’ing each shot.

It was made even better this year thanks to Kevin Reedy and Trevor Hess from Chicago and Josh Dulabaum from St. Pete, who set up cameras and recorded and live streamed over four hours of play on the second day. I’ve embedded the video below. This has to be the future of the sport if it is going to not only survive, but flourish in the future. At around the 1:55:00 mark of the stream Ashley Albert (owner of the Royal Palms) and Earl Ball begin giving color commentary and play by play. The two did an excellent job and Earl explained the strategy of each shot in a simple, concise, and entertaining way. If you’re stuck inside for the next few days or weeks, give it a watch and let us know what you think.
