WHAT WE DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT STEVE SLAUGHTERBECK
Steve passed away in his Bradenton home (Trailer Estates) July 17, 2020. Steve was the current SWCD President as well as the President of Bluffton, OH shuffleboard club. The thing I will always remember about Steve as President is that with any discussion or decisions to be made, his comment was always the same, “whatever we do must be fair to all players and clubs.” That in nutshell defines Steve.
Steve and Cindy were married in 1977 have 3 sons and 6 grandchildren. Steve was a tool & die maker, auctioneer and real estate agent. He had a passion for collecting things. Steve collected coins, pocket knives, and recently carnival glass. He also loved dachshund dogs, fishing, billiards, poker cruises, blackjack & coloring with his grandchildren.
Most do not know that Steve and Cindy traveled extensively. They took cruises to Norway, England, Scotland, France, Australia and New Zealand. In 2017 they flew to San Juan and cruised the Southern Caribbean with all 3 sons, daughter in laws and grandchildren.
Steve was one of the ‘Good Guys’ of shuffleboard and will be missed in the SWCD.
As his wife Cindy stated, “He was passionate about what he loved.”
