Maureen Bryan OSA HOF Elora, Ontario June 2018
It is an honour for me to nominate Maureen Bryan into the Ontario Shuffleboard Association, Hall of Fame in the Special Awards Category…..she is most deserving of this award.
Maureen would often say “she would never play shuffleboard”. After she retired from nursing in 2007…..she changed her mind!! Maureen started to play shuffleboard in Florida, where she and her husband Bill spend their winters at their home in Lazy Days. Her competitiveness took over and she has never looked back….
Maureen has represented Ontario in 3 Interprovincial Tournaments, and this year in High River she will have represented Canada in 6 International Shuffleboard Association Championships.
In 2018 Maureen placed first in the Ladies Pro division of the Florida Southern District Masters.
Maureen has represented Canada at Russia, Norway and England inaugurals.
In 2009 when the Centre Wellington Shuffleboard Club was founded, Maureen took a position of being a director. She has always being a willing worker….no job is too big for her. Thanks to Maureen there are albums of pictures that have been taken by her. Our members sure enjoy looking back over the years of “memories”. Maureen is the President of Centre Wellington Shuffleboard Club.
Maureen has been a faithful secretary for the Ontario Shuffleboard Association for 8 years. She has made my job as OSA President easy. Maureen has been everything to me. She tells me what to do and what to say!!! She currently still holds the position of OSA secretary.
Thank you, Maureen for your devotion and dedication to shuffleboard.
It gives me great pleasure to present my friend, Maureen Bryan into the Ontario Shuffleboard Association, Hall of Fame for the Special Award Category.
50th Wedding Anniversary. Maureen and Bill
8 Nov at 9:02 PM (2018 I believe)
Here we are, 50 years later. We were married on this lovely fall day, light snow on the ground. Honeymoon days were in Florida, and now we spend our senior winters here.
I was in nursing, and Bill was a dairy and beef farmer, with real estate thrown in a few years later. We have three children, two boys and one daughter, and with that eight grandchildren. We spent many years with our kids in hockey arenas, figure skating, and ball diamonds. Now the old folks spend their time golfing and playing shuffleboard. We have been very fortunate to have been able to travel to many countries because of shuffleboard, which have included ISA events as well as our own Provincial tournaments. Along the way we have been able to meet many enjoyable people. We have been fortunate to win a few games here and there and carry many good memories with us. Our greatest blessing is our family. We hope to have many more years together. We have still a few things on the bucket list. Bill and Maureen Bryan.
