CATHIE HURST
HALL OF FAME INDUCTION 2014

Cathie is from Oshawa, Ontario, is married to Dennis, and has a son Rod.
Cathie was introduced to Shuffleboard at Sanlan Ranch in the early 2000’s. In 2003, after playing as Sanlan interpark player 5 times a week, she played in her first Central District tournament at Sanlan, with Dennis. They came first and that win was the start of her love for tournament play.
I met Cathie in Blackstock, Ontario in the summer of 2002 at the Scugog Shuffleboard Club. That was the beginning of a great friendship and shuffleboard partnership.
Cathie earned enough points to play in the 2003, 2004, and 2005 Reiny Schleier tournaments as an Amateur and came first in all 3. Cathie placed in the top 4 in the 2008,2009,2011,2012 and 2013in the Central District Pro Masters Tournaments.
In 2006, Cathie, still an amateur, was invited to play in the Battle of the Big Dogs in Winter Haven, to fill in for a Pro Lady State Player. Pete Rinehart sponsored it and she took First Place in the Ladies division.
In 2010 Cathie and I played in the first, Bright House Invitational Tournament in St Petersburg and came first, winning a 50’’ TV for our park, Citrus Woods.
Cathie is a member of the Lakeland Shuffleboard Club. She also Volunteers at the Polk Senior Games held at the Lakeland Courts.
It is with great pleasure that I present my friend, Cathie Hurst into the Central District Hall of Fame.
