We Tell You Just A Little About Eric Hahmann

Vice President Erik Hahmann Speaks: (May of 2017)   “Last week, we at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club held a party celebrating passing the 1,000 member mark!! This is a big milestone for the club.”

In the 1950s the club had over 8,000 members, but the number dwindled down to less than 50 in the early 2000s. In the past decade-plus we have seen a rejuvenation thanks to a dedicated group of locals and great leadership from the board. Our free Friday nights still pack every court and we have some event or another happening at the club every weekday and most Saturdays. Sadly, we can’t get all 1,000+ members together for one picture, but these members came out to our party and we couldn’t be happier to have such an eclectic group represent our club. We’re thrilled to be a vibrant part of the shuffleboard community again.

FUTURE SUPER STAR

Earl Ball Speaks: Today I had the opportunity to practice with and play against one of the game’s future superstars.  Erik Hahmann of the St Pete Club came to Betmar with his girlfriend, Kerry Bailey where my mixed doubles partner, Pauline Murphy, and I hosted them.  We played two games in 3 hours and twenty minutes.  Both games were back and forth and very close with both teams having several chances to win; Pauline and I squeaked out both victories but it could have easily gone the other way.  Eric is 31 years old, working and going to school.  He shots very well with a deadly kitchen shot that will keep him in every game but what most impressed me was listening to him analyze each situation; he knows what he’s doing.  Oh, by the way do you know what it will take to outscore Glenn Peltier’s record someday.  It’ll take someone young that lives in Florida with the right work schedule so they can play the tournaments.  I won’t be here to see it and neither will most of you but I would bet on it.

Kerry is also a fine player and was able to stay pretty close to Pauline and I’m sure Pauline is going to be a star; Kerry will be too if shuffleboard becomes a priority in her life.

Eric i feel will find many challenges in his life that he will be good at. We all hope he stays with shuffleboard and take it to new heights. He is a fine gentleman and good sport. He is our poster player.
