We Tell You Just A Little About Jonathan Schnapp.

I share this message (below) with you. It is from the “Royal Palms Crew”, authored by Jonathan Schnapp.  Loyal readers will know that Jonathan and Ashley both participated in the 33rd ISA in Midland, ON. Loyal readers will also know that Jonathan and Ashley operate the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club in Gowanus (Brooklyn) New York.   Finally, Loyal readers will agree that Jonathan and Ashley have done a Great Deal to Promote Shuffleboard!!

Dear Shuffleboard Enthusiasts,

The Last 6 months have been truly spectacular.

In the Winter of 2011, when we first came up with the idea to build a shuffleboard club in Brooklyn we never could have foreseen the giant outpouring of support that would grow around what would soon become the Royal Palms.

Thank you for everything you’ve done to make our little club in Gowanus such a special place.

We’ve been a little lax in sending email updates to this list but intend to step up our communication skills in the coming months.

With that in mind, we want to start off this email relationship with something special… an opportunity to be a part of the very heart of our club-The Royal Palms Shuffleboard League.

League Invites have generally been localized to a small portion of our list but for this upcoming season we really want to let everyone have an opportunity to join in the fun.

For the last 6 months, 120 teams have competed for bikes, trophies, glory and fun.

The winners of these leagues came to compete with us in the ISA Shuffleboard World Championships this summer and managed to win a few matches and represent our club splendidly. (way to go Amber and Phil!)

First off there’s DEFINITELY no experience necessary-even we hadn’t played in about 30 years until recently. most people are coming from a similar place…we’re all starting at more or less the same (very basic) level.

Teams will consist of at least 6 players of which 4 will play on any given night so not everyone will have to show up every week-we’ll be pretty lax with alternate players but we will need 4 players here for each night of match play.

We have 7pm, 8pm and 9pm slots on Monday and Tuesday nights. The Season will begin on September 8

and wrap up with our championship playoff on November 16.

League fee’s are $500/team and include all court time, equipment, etc. and can be paid through paypal.

And as an extra bonus we’ve added something special for league members this season: a WHOPPING 50% OFF COURT TIME ALL SEASON LONG and FREE COURT TIME ALL SEASON LONG on SUNDAYS.

What better way to get your game into championship form than with some steep discounts on court time.

It’s a really fun community…we’ll have different food trucks each week, work in some live music and entertainment, theme nights, drink specials, prizes, etc. it should be really fun-

If you’re interested and new to the league, just let us know and we’ll find some time to get your team a little lesson, go over rules of play, scoring, technique, etc

All slots will be filled on a first come first served basis, so if you’d like to sign up get on it quickly…

Just send us a note with your team name and top 3 time slots and we’ll get you registered ASAP.

With love and gratitude,

The Royal Palms Crew

As ISA President I was enthused the first time and heard his ideas to open a Shuffleboard club
In Brooklyn NY. Clubs were closing all around the country as seniors were dying off and no younger players were appearing to replace them. People thought this was a lost cause for Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club. As a younger trend setter in the ISA I immediately recognized Johnathan and Ashley’s same enthusiasm and invited them to be my special guests in the upcoming ISA World Championship on my newly created United Nations Team for stragglers and non member nation players. I visited their Royal Palms Club during the construction phase and then later on their Grand Opening Night. It obviously became an instant success and Johnathan and Ashley continued to compete on United Nations Teams until finally they were selected to be members of the USA team. By the way, if you ever play against Jonathan be aware his game is to clear anything and everything on the opposite end of the court and he is damn good at it. Lol

And they continue to do awesome things! We are loving our Monday nights watching competitive Shuffleboard from both Chicago and Brooklyn on Facebook live!! Is extraordinary to be watching play during Covid. And the commentary is instructive. Thanks Both!
