JANE O. BIRD, SOME YEARS AGO
Wrote to me and let me know that in her opinion, The Shuffler spent an inordinate amount of time addressing matters related to the Men, and as a result, Women quite often were over looked, or at least did not receive the attention warranted!!
Jane O >> I still remember that observation quite vividly and it is because of that memory that I am posting this article. The World just may need more “Jane Os”

It is with regret that I inform you that (“Jane-O”) Jane O Bird has passed away. Jane-O was truly one of the Grand Ole Ladies of Shuffleboard! She was assertive but oh so courteous; she was a true friend of shuffleboard.
IN 1990 JANE O’LOUGHLIN WAS INDUCTED INTO THE FSA HOF.
Her supporting remarks read: “Jane continues to be one of the dominating players on the Ladies’ Pro circuit. Up to the present time she has amassed the amazing total of 413* points! Jane has won just about every major tournament and/or championship, including the F.SA. Masters, with her latest achievement being 1st Place in the 1990 Masters, held at Lake Worth. Friendliness and congeniality are Jane’s trademark, and she always has a “story” to relate to cheer her many, many friends. Jane has the youth to be in contention for a long time to come, and has the potential of being one of the greatest lady shufflers of all time. There is very little doubt but that Jane ‘belongs” in our shuffleboard Hall of Fame!”
Ken Offenther presented JANE-O the “MVP” Award as a part of the 100th Anniversary of Shuffleboard in Florida. Ken offered these remarks: “A JOVIAL STORY TELLER; ALWAYS WITH A SMILE; THIS EXTREMELY COLORFUL LADY HAS BEEN PLAYING SHUFFLEBOARD FOR 36 YEARS – AS LONG AS ANYONE CONSECUTIVELY IN SHUFFLEBOARD HISTORY!! SHE HAS PLAYED AGAINST ALL THE GREATS FROM MAE HALL TO JOAN COOK AND HAS DONE IT VERY WELL. 13 STATE MASTERS, WINNING IN 1986, 1990 AND AGAIN IN 1995 WHEN SHE POSTED 19 WINS AND 2 LOSSES, A RECORD NEVER BETTERED BY ANY WOMAN OR MAN. SHE IS #5 ON THE ALLTIME WOMEN’S POINT LIST AND WAS INDUCTED INTO THE FSA HALL OF FAME WAY BACK IN 1990.
JANE O BIRD WAS SLOWED DOWN IN JAN 2012 WITH A BROKEN SHOULDER. WE CAN ONLY HOPE TO SEE HER BACK ON THE COURTS ALL BETTER IN THE NEAR FUTURE >> FOR TODAY SHE RECIEVES THE MOST VALUEABLE PERSON PIN FOR HER GREAT ACHEIVEMENTS.
