We Tell You Just A Little About John Bushee

ALTRUISM; UNSELFISH CONCERN FOR OTHERS!!

I suppose it is human nature to recognize the winners in any sport, be it shuffleboard or football!  However; in every sport there are those who labour unnoticed and go unrecognized.

The Shuffler has chosen to identify one such dedicated person who works tirelessly on our behalf.  We know that in your Club, wherever you shuffle, that you have a similar unselfish contributor!

We have selected 2 pix of John Bushee.  No other man on the planet does more for shuffleboard in his two Clubs >> Sebring and Avon Park.  He just never stops; if he is not preparing the courts in the morning; he is carrying discs in between making calls, and when that is done, he is cleaning up!!

When I was Club President at Avon I had to threaten him with a detention in order to get him to go home!!  I note that he has not improved in this regard!!!!

Incidentally, John was one of two who co-sponsored the Central District Tournaments at Avon this past two days, Dec 18, 19 & 20th, 2008.  This was not his first >> nor will it be his last!!!

John & Irene Bushee Celebrate Their 56th Wedding Anniversary on March 20th, 2010!!

A COUPLE DEDICATED TO THE SERVICE OF OTHERS!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY FROM YOUR SHUFFLING FRIENDS! IRENE, WE DO NOT SEE THAT MUCH OF YOU BUT WE DO THANK YOU FOR “GETTING JOHN OUT OF THE HOUSE”!!

The Shuffler checked back in their files to see what had been written about John.  We found several but thought these two representative!!

John Bushee is the “heart & soul” of The Sebring Recreation Club. A club director and chairman of the shuffleboard committee, John devotes much of his time to the upkeep and maintenance of the club and the organization of weekly shuffleboard activities.  If John cannot be found at the Sebring club, he most likely will be at the Avon Park club performing similar duties.  Shuffleboard clubs in the Florida Central District hosting tournaments can usually count on John to be one of the first arrivals and eager to lend a hand in preparation for the start of the event.  When not involved with shuffleboard, John and his wife Irene [a daily volunteer at a local Sebring hospital] may be found attending concerts at the South Florida Community College, vacationing at exotic places throughout North America or spending time with family who are spread out through the U.S.A. Never seeking the spot light, John is highly respected for his integrity. Above all, John is a very skilled shuffleboard player and ranks high amongst the Pros. Stan’s Comment: I have received similar comments from Lorraine Pollock AND I would like to take this opportunity to add my personal endorsement to Max’s accolade~~John is a pillar of strength to any Shuffling Organization~~and a gentleman on the Courts. Comments offered by Max Tate: in 2005.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!! GROWING OUR MEMBERSHIP!!

John Bushee invited this man to shuffle at the Any Doubles, No 2 Pro District Tournament at Sebring!!  His name, Chap Chamberlain~~a new player who began shuffling this summer ~~ gives as his reason for NOT shuffling in tournaments~~”I am not good enough” John knew better, and told Chap “We are going to play in this one!” Chap’s response “Well, I don’t know”.  John assured him they would and not only that, he had signed them up to play!!  John tells me that Chap played well and he certainly enjoyed the day!!  I believe more Pros should seek out an individual and introduce him/her to competitive shuffling!  If they have an enjoyable day, WE JUST MAY HAVE A NEW PLAYER ON THE DISTRICT CIRCUIT!! Hats off to John Bushee for this unselfish action!!
