1st PLACE; ISA SINGLES, MESA, AZ
WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT!!
THE SHUFFLER salutes Nancy Chaffin of Alaska and Arizona for a major win in this very significant event!! The prize money was split with the men on the same ratio as the level of participation. We had an opportunity to speak with an understandably excited Nancy following the presentations at the Banquet in Mesa. THE SHUFFLER: Congratulations on your win; What is the significance of this win for you? Nancy: “This has been a real thrill for me. When I entered I thought that I might win maybe one game. This has been a great great opportunity for me. I don’t get to practise. We have a home and no court. This has been wonderful; a wonderfully run tournament. This whole week has been just great. I have met so many wonderful people.” THE SHUFFLER: Where do you shuffle? Nancy: “Well we entered a tournament in Yuma. I have only been in two tournaments this year. We don’t get to practise.” THE SHUFFLER: Where is your home? Nancy: “In Alaska, ValDeez, so there is no shuffleboard. It is a wonderful place.” THE SHUFFLER: Is there anything you would like to add? Nancy: “Well I think the Organizers have done a great job. This has been a wonderful week for everybody.”

WILL NANCY PREVAIL AT BETMAR AS SHE DID IN MESA??
The female competitors may already know the win-loss record of each and every potential opponent at the upcoming Betmar World Singles. After all, is this not part of professional preparation?? In the very first International Singles, Nancy Chaffin placed 1st and picked up a “bunch of cash”! (Mesa in 2004) The Shuffler thought it would be of interest to post the interview we did with her in 2004 following her Big Win!! Incidentally; Nancy has picked up a whole “lot of smarts” since Mesa by reason of her participation in Brazil and Germany >> just to name a few!! Stan 2009 07 08.

Love this special Lady. She really needs our prayers as she battles the cancer that continues to attack her.
