We Tell You Just A Little About Sebastian Runge

Sebastian Runge from Meerbusch was voted to be inducted into the International Shuffleboard Hall of Fame. He is the 3rd member of the German Shuffleboard Association to receive this honour.

There are a great number of good reasons for this vote. Sebastian Runge was able to finish as best German player in 6 World Championships (2007, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014 & 2015). He furthermore is the only the German player to participate in all World Championships since 2006. Additionally, Sebastian received the “Merit-Award” for his outstanding contributions to the sport of Shuffleboard at the World Championship 2007.

Apart from his sporting success, his organizational skills and the strong readiness to help at events of the German Shuffleboard Association have to be highlighted as well. This became particularly apparent in the course of the Inaugural 2008 when International Shufflers from Brasil, Canada and USA spent one week on a trip in Germany and the Netherlands where Sebastian Runge took over the responsibility for the organization of the trip to the Cologne area. Furthermore, he was also strongly involved as part of the Organization Committee of the World Championship 2010 in Germany. In addition to that, his advice and opinion in terms of issues concerning creative design is always highly valued.

The honour and official ceremony will take place at this year’s “Hall of Fame Dinner” at the World Championship in Florida. Not only the accompanying members of his family, but also the members of the GSA who will represent Germany at the Team World Championship in the USA will be able to experience this honour live and are sure to applaud.

We congratulate Sebastian Runge for the induction into the Shuffleboard Hall of Fame! Article translated by Torben Hussmann; article sent along by Birgitt Hussmann with thanks to both.  Stan McCormack.  2016 05 30

Sebastian’s Remarks on the Occassion of his Induction Into the ISA Hall of Fame.

Yes, dear shuffleboard friends, I’m so happy and I feel highly honored…
irSst and foremost that all of you are my Shuffleboard family since 10 years now; thank you so much!

In my first life I’ve been an untalented soccer player,
but now I’m a shuffleboard player, some of you will say:
still untalented.

But with this induction into the ISA Hall of Fame my dream come true!

Thank you… all of you who have selected me,
Dieter Hussmann who has presented me with such a warm laudatio
but most of all my outstanding wife Kerstin and my three children Selina, Marius and Freddy for their outright support.
Last but not least I have to mention my parents and especially  my mother, who passed away when I started to play Shuffleboard in 2006. It’s due to her that my family is in the financial position to travel every year to the worldwide ISA tornaments. Thank you, Mom!
You all have given me the chance to live my passion, and I thank you all sincerely from the bottom of my heart.

Enough of sentimental words, I will come to an end:
Shuffleboard is more than the activity on the courts, Shuffleboard is getting together.

So let’s have fun tonight and may the drift always be with you!

Sebastian and Kerstin bring “Life to the Party” whenever they are present and especially when in shuffleboard competition. Screams of disappointment towards himself can often be heard above the normal noise whenever he makes a self generated mistake. In Sebastians very first professional game in Lakeside, Ohio I was playing against him and providing a few pointers but soon I realized he had been gaining good strategy and I actually lost that game to him. Nice way to start taking out the Brazilian National President in your very first game.
