FROM Stan Bober. 2018 05 29
You’re making me famous. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing? I think it’s a mostly positive thing. More and more people are e-mailing me or coming up to me then ever before. The West Coast District President Jan Cote, gave me a tremendous compliment and stated I was well known through-out Florida and elsewhere as well and people loved our website.
I think the goofy cartoons has a bunch to do with all of the visitors these past few years. Around 2002 I was asked to be webmaster for the Indiana Escapees Chapter (3rd largest RV Club in America) and I started putting goofy things on Indiana’s website. My boss was a computer nerd and could write code faster than I could spell vegetables. He didn’t like me goofing off but he started to get compliments from other states. Before long, I became instructor for all of the other state chapters. We gave up RVing along with the webmaster job and I thought my webmaster career was over.
Betty and I became interested in shuffleboard in 2010 and a couple of years later, the WCD webmaster resigned (Don Winklebech) and Frank Niziolek knew I was a retired webmaster. As they say, the rest is history.
About 3 or 4 years ago the FSA new Pres. asked it I would be their webmaster. It was a tremendous compliment but I’m very happy and content staying with my WCD friends. I doubt the FSA would have put up with my goofy website shanigans (sp?) anyway. They are all about stats and data and that’s the way it should be for them. That’s not for me and if I can’t have fun doing our website, I will turn it over to another ASAP!
When I took over WCD’s website, the then President told Frank Niziolek he wanted to see and approve every page before it was published. I told Frank he would have to get a new webmaster as I would once again be a retired webmaster. That subject was never brought up again.
Sorry for rambling on. I guess I’m lonely as Betty went to her usual Tuesday night card game.
