ZEPHYRHILLS ADDS THE FINISHING TOUCHES!!

Preparations have begun at the Zephyrhills Shuffleboard Club for the State Masters to be held April 6-9^th, 2009 at the club. 

Saturday morning, March 28^th, shortly after 8 A.M., about 25-30 people were bustling around “beautifying” the facility in readiness for the big event.  Henry Strong orchestrated the organized chaos and people were assigned tasks.  Walls, chairs, benches, and furniture were washed. Fans and lighting were dismantled, washed and reassembled. In fact just about anything stationary was washed. A person dared not stand still very long.

New side curtains were fitted and hung. Washrooms were cleaned from “stem to stern” and new mats added. 

In the midst of the buzzing around, several of us sat down and had a meeting about the way we were actually planning to handle the tournament. Earl Ball took charge of this meeting and identified chores … who is to do what, when, etc.  That being settled, everyone went back to work.  

Pizza was ordered for lunch which disappeared very quickly.  Everyone was tired and ready for a well deserved rest.  About 20 minutes later we were back on the job.  Finally about 3 P.M. everything was polished and shining; most helpers had left or started shuffling, so we were finished for the day!! 

Many hands make light work and we were grateful for all those who showed up to help. 

There are still many things to be addressed before the tournament actually begins but we are well and truly underway.  A day or so before the actual event will be final touch-up time, which will signify that we are completely ready! 

We are very proud of our facility and will be pleased to see the top players in action on our courts, which are in fantastic condition. We hope everyone will come and watch this major event.
