The Miracle of the Tournament of Champions by Glen Peltier

One of the miracles of the past is how long and how important the Tournament of Champions is to our game of shuffleboard.  It has been around for fourty-five years. The qualifying terms have changed a little but the tournament is so important to our game. To tell our grandchildren that you had to qualify in order to play gives us bragging rights. (Speaking in 2016)

I have played in every T.O.C. since my first year as a pro. Some players don’t want to knock one of their friends out of the Masters, but that never bothered me as I always play to win and I expect everyone else should also.  I hope we have a large turnout and keep the T.O.C. going forever.

Years ago we had the open and closed divisions. The open could be played at any age but the closed could not be played by anyone under sixty five years old.  Every division was walking only.  The non walking opened up the event to many more players.
