Harold Thorne speaks on Facebook answering a comment I made:
Yes. Lived there for about 13 years. Have 2 children there, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. I used to manage the Lobster Shanty North Restaurant and motel in Montague.
Here is the comment: “Great pic of a most appealing Island!! Shuffler Joanne Gallivan said this: “I have lived most of my life in one of the most beautiful places in the world, Cape Breton Island (Nova Scotia). Travel and Leisure magazine recently named it the top island destination in North America and third in the world, after Bali and Sicily.” It is just possible that Harold has an attachment to this “wonderful island”!! And finally, here is the pic: https://www.facebook.com/93913917089/photos/a.10152217480472090.1073741830.93913917089/10153630809842090/?type=3
Harold Comments on Vienna Event.
Hats off to Beth and Jim Allen for organizing a great tour, with the help of the Norwich president and volunteers and the Vienna president and volunteers. As Glenna Earle and others have sent you stories and pictures of the events. It was truly fabulous.
I have to say my greatest challenge came in Vienna when they announced the Final Four and I was included along with Dieter Hussmann, Stefan Stadtmuller, and Doris Hanke. Dieter & Stefan for 1st place and Doris and me for 3rd place.
The challenge was that Doris and I are close friends. However we played our game, Doris led throughout and I had the Final hammer and scored to win the game by 3 points. Doris, being her usual self was very gracious. We took a lot of kidding from other friends, but the game is the game, and anyone can win or lose on any given day.
And to this day, we still kid him about that win over Doris — !!!! But a fair win it was and he took the kidding in stride (and still does!)
