I am privileged to be up here today to speak to you about the accomplishments of Glenna Earle. On a personal note, Glenna is one of the most pleasant, charming and happiest people who is always willing to help anyone who asks.
Glenna was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia December 18, 1944 and went to high school in Milford, Nova Scotia. She received two degrees from Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax.
Glenna taught music at the elementary school level for most of her teaching career. She married in 1967 and proceeded to travel all over Canada with her husband David, who was in the military.
Those that know Glenna, know that her love is music (after David) and that may have changed to shuffleboard. She is very talented and does crafts of all types, quilting, knitting, cross stitching, crocheting and gardening.
Living on the water, Glenna also loves boating and travelling for shuffleboard. In 2008 she was part of Team Canada in Australia and went to Germany in 2010 where she was part of the gold medal Canadian team.
Glenna is very active in the F.S.A. where she placed first in a 3 way tie in the District Masters. She, in her first year pro qualified in the T.O.C and placed 3rd in the main.
Glenna has qualified for the State Masters four times, but because of time constraints in the U.S. has only played once in 2013 (?)
She has been a V.P. of the C.N.S.A since 2009 and also V.P. of Forest Lake Estates Shuffleboard Club for five years where she now lives and has been Co-President of the Nova Scotia Saltwater Shuffleboard Club for six years.
Glenna has helped run the 55+ Games in Sydney, Truro, New Glasgow Nova Scotia. Glenna also finds time along with her friend Linda Marshman to teach beginner and advanced classes of shuffleboard in Zephyrhills.
Ordinary people do ordinary things, extra-ordinary people to extra-ordinary things and that is what Glenna Earle is.
Glenna is the only person, man or woman, to win 2 golden cues once in 2011 and again 2013, confirming her status as the best female player in the world four years running.
If, by chance, someone would tie or break her record, Glenna would surely be the first to extend congratulations because that is the way Glenna is.
Glenna was inducted into the C.N.S.A. Hall of Fame (player category) in Goderich, ON in July of this year. She is being inducted into the I.S.A. Hall of Fame tonight in Clearwater, October 28, 2015.
It is my honor and pleasure to present to you a well-respected friend of my wife and I. I give to you Glenna Earle for induction into the prestigious International Shuffleboard Association Hall of Fame Player Category, a deserving addition to the many great people already there.
